LEVEL 3 AWARD

EMERGENCY FIRST AID AT WORK

This course is for you if you need basic first aid training and are working in low-risk environments, such as in shops and offices.

First aid is not only a requirement in many workplaces and volunteering organisations but also a life skill; everyone should learn. Ensuring there are trained first aiders on site will help provide a safer environment for everyone.
The Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work is the most popular first aid qualification. This qualification helps employers to meet the minimum requirements for First Aid at Work as outlined in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981, typically those working in shops, offices, and other low-risk environments.

Topics covered within this course are:

  • Communication and casualty care.
  • Defibrillator prompts and how to respond (theory-based).

This qualification is aimed at those over 16 years old and who are able to undertake the responsibilities associated with being an emergency first aider. Those under 16 may undertake the qualification, however, they should not be relied upon by employers to be responsible first aiders.
Due to the language of the assessment, it is recommended that learners have sufficient command of the English language in order to understand the assessment and undertake the recommended assessment methods. Attendees will be required to demonstrate first aid procedures learnt throughout the course, as they would in a real work environment and emergency situations. This includes providing CPR to a casualty on the floor, so students should be physically capable of doing so.
