The CSCS has responded to the findings made by the BBC regarding fraud within the health and safety test system. It has released a statement confirming that it has suspended the testing centres identified in the investigation and plans to introduce new anti-fraud measures.
It has stated that all cards issued as a result of tests taken at the now suspended centres will be withdrawn. All such cardholders will need to re-take the test in order to gain a replacement card.
The CITB and the British Safety Council have also withdrawn accreditation for the companies in question to deliver training with immediate effect.
The CSCS has vowed to meet with all 24 awarding organisations as soon as possible to review its arrangements for accredited training centre security and audit procedures.
